Flange Facing

To ensure the flange joints, damages are removed using a known as a flange-facing machine. During assembly and mobilization, the flanges get damaged very often either by scratching or dents on the sealing surface.

Flange facing is the most important job during maintenance and shutdown activities which provides them with a spiral-grooved finish to be leakless as liquid flows in high pressure. The cutting tool often travels in a spiral path across the flange and reduces the damage from the flange by flattening the surface.

The common drive of flange facers is:

  • Hydraulic flange facing machine
  • Pneumatic flange-facing machine

Depending on the mounting mechanism:

  • Outside Diameter (OD) mounted flange facing machine and
  • Internal Diameter (ID) mounted flange facer.
